Premier League v/s Cricket League

The BCCI needs to get real and comprehend that the stronger the ICL is, the better the foundation for IPL. India's stars of the future depend on a unified stand by the two bodies.

Lalit Modi vice-president of the BCCI, and chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), in a recent debate, said that the ICL is a venture by a businessman whose motive is not for the development of the game but to make money. So supporting them isn’t a feasible option for the richest cricket board. What is the IPL then? If the ICL is a business venture then the IPL is a proven money-making machine even before the players have stepped onto the field. The kind of money involved has come as no surprise in this cricket-mad part of the world. If you put this kind of money in a Swiss bank the interest would be enough to feed the entire population of India.

The BCCI does not seem to realize that the stronger the ICL is the better the foundation for the IPL will be. The ICL has great competitive cricket and star players who could have done wonders in the IPL. Just imagine Kolkata Knight Riders playing against Lahore Badshahs in a jam-packed Eden Gardens. This cricket war between ICL and IPL is taking cricket nowhere.

People like Kapil Dev, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Madan Lal and other stars that brought cricket glory for India in the 1983 World Cup have been sidelined. Mr. Modi says the IPL is about taking the game to a different level which I feel only he can define.

What will happen to the future of players like Ambati Rayudu, who was hailed as the next big thing like Sachin Tendulkar? There are many young stars still in their teens. What will happen to their careers in mainstream cricket if the BCCI does not even recognize them for selection since they are playing in a rebel league? The Pakistan team in the ICL looks stronger than their national team.

The game should not lose out to unfair business strategies adopted by the masters of the game. Sport is for enjoyment and commercializing it does not help its cause. As such, the IPL and the ICL should collaborate and not get involved in a war of words.

Let Cricket be the winner rather than the winner being a Lalit Modi or Subhash Chandra!

Ho Gayi Googly!!

Lot of flaws, not that great a story line, not very good camera angles, amateurish and it is repetitive; but still this one is special and close to my heart as it is my first film. It was a real great experience shooting this 5 shot film as it had to be shot in just one hour!! Learnt a lot of new things while shooting. The experience definitely was worth the efforts.

This film is about a guy who is getting late for the class and the googlies that happen!!! The last shot is also a pun on one of the professor who taught us!!!
This is a picture of the library of the jubilee campus of Nottingham University.. Looks lovely at night and i think this photo has captured lovely lighting...

Nalsarovar

This one is in contrast with the earlier black and white picture!! Almost a similar compositin captured from a different angle resulted in a colour photo!!!

Nalsarovar

This one's clicked at Nalsarovar, near Ahmedabad. I like the way how the sun rays are coming from in between the cloud. The pictures seems to be captured at the right moment. Without any editing it has come out perfectly in black and white. Love the combination and proportion of light floating clouds in sky, sun light, heavy mass of weeds and the water!!!

IPL Drama

The Times Of India reported todat that
all is not well between SRK and Ganguly. There are several reasons, and at the top of it is SRK’s insistence that Ganguly talk to the West Bengal CM to try and abolish the entertainment tax that SRK is paying for matches at Eden Gardens. Ganguly, who’s known to be close to the CM, refused.

But the reason cannot be as simple as what is being potrayed. I think all this is coming out the same reason Vijay Mallya and Dravid are square with each other - The KnightRider’s near-certain exit from the IPL. The article hints that SRK is blaming it on Dada’s declining form, and the lack of any solid performance after McCullum’s blitz in Match #1.

I have this feeling that the IPL drama is not going to be over after the Finals. The team owners and captains of the bottom 4 are going to be in a big spat, and there’s going to be a lot of pressure on the BCCI to clarify the player trading rules when the trading window opens. Fun!
